
The annual Kamehameha Schools Song Contest is a unique cultural celebration that has become a major local event, broadcast live on TV, played on the radio, and streamed on the Internet. This film focuses on the student song directors, and tells the behind-the-scenes story through their eyes as they prepare for a competition where 2000 high school students sing Hawaiian music in four-part harmony. It features footage of them being guided by well-known composers of Hawaiian music such as Dennis Kamakahi, as well as practice sessions and interviews with family members, alumni, and scholars.
The DVD contains over 35 minutes of deleted scenes, post song contest interviews with the student song directors, conversations with composers, and more.
